Samson Ekal Lopeyok

Samson is a dedicated Community Development Practitioner and Humanitarian Volunteer with over three years of experience serving vulnerable communities across Turkana County, Kenya. He holds a Diploma in Social Work and Community Development, with a specialization in Community Development.

Samson has extensive experience in community engagement, accountability, disaster response, WASH programming, food security, and livelihood support. Through his work with the Kenya Red Cross Society – Turkana Branch and other community-based initiatives, he has supported emergency response operations, conducted baseline and endline surveys, and facilitated community mobilization activities aimed at strengthening resilience among displaced and host populations.

His professional journey includes working closely with refugee and host communities in Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kalobeyei Settlement, where he has championed women’s empowerment, gender-based violence (GBV) awareness, and survivor-centered approaches. Samson is a certified Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) practitioner accredited by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

Currently serving as a Volunteer Community Liaison Officer with EmpowerVan, Samson plays a key role in strengthening community relationships, promoting inclusive participation, and supporting initiatives that advance the dignity, protection, and agency of women and marginalized groups.

He is passionate about grassroots leadership, sustainable development, and community-driven impact.
